Casting and presentation may be more important than any other variable when it comes to catching a fish. We offer many specialized casting lessons depending on what you need. Want to optimize your current cast? We can do that. Need to learn how to cast that massive spey rod for your upcoming saltwater trip? We can do that too. Your buddies laughed at you because you couldn’t roll cast? We’ll make you the best damn roll caster this side of the Mississippi.

Private Casting Basics

If you’re just getting started out or returning to the sport after many years, this clinic is the perfect way to get your casting motion in tip-top shape. We’ll cover lifting your line off the water quietly, loading your rod, and presenting your fly exactly where you want it.

Spey Fishing Workshop

Whether new to two-handed casting or looking to sharpen your skills, this 4-hour intensive is focused on improving your spey fishing knowledge and skillset.

This class will cover the single and double spey, Snap T, and Circle Spey casts as well as developing control and understanding of fishing a swung fly through various conditions. While salmon and steelhead are common targets with the spey rod we have ample opportunity to hunt smallmouth and trout as well!

$250 • 4 hours • Housatonic River, West Cornwall, CT or West Branch, Delaware River, Starlight, PA • 1 to 2 people

Casting Bamboo

Bamboo is the OG fly rod: built like a tank, delicate touch, unparalleled feel. Come experience casting nirvana with us in the park where we’ll teach you how the rods are made, what makes them so enjoyable, and give you some special techniques to make the most of casting bamboo. Please note: this class requires intermediate casting abilities.

Casting for Distance

Headed to salt water? Make sure you know how to throw that fly waaaaaayyyyy out there! In this class, we’ll take you through techniques used for maximizing the distance of your fly. You will learn single and double haul maneuvers for building momentum a the tip of your line and methods for generating power without wearing out your shoulder and arm (this is a finesse sport, after all).

$100 • 1 hour • TBD • 1 to 2 people
